Aluminum Repair

Aluminum Repair

  • Aluminum Repair Techniques
    • Dent Repair: Aluminum panels can be repaired just like steel but requires more labour and a steady hand as the aluminum bounces back.
    • Welding: Aluminum welding requires specialized equipment, and our expert technicians utilize proper technique and crucial filler material selection so your repairs are safe and seamless.
    • Bonding: Structural adhesive bonding is common for aluminum repairs. It ensures strength without compromising the metal’s integrity.
    • Heat Treatment: Heat treatment restores aluminum panels to their original strength after welding or shaping.
    • Surface Preparation: Proper cleaning and surface treatment prevent corrosion and ensure paint adhesion.
  • Paint and Finish
    • Aluminum panels must be prepped and primed differently from steel. Specialized primers and paints are used.
    • Matching the original color and achieving a seamless finish is essential.

Plastic Repair

  • Plastic Bumpers
    • Advantages: Modern vehicles often feature plastic bumper covers. These covers are cheaper, lighter, and easier to manufacture and replace in case of accidents.
    • Repairability: Plastic bumpers are relatively easy to fix if they get scratched, gouged, or broken. Unlike chrome bumpers, which are not repairable.  Painted steel bumpers on the other hand can be repaired as well and refinished.  Plastic bumpers can be repaired without such hassles.
    • Methods: Plastic welding and epoxy filler materials are common repair methods for plastic bumpers.
  • Plastic Welding
    • Process: Plastic welding involves using a tool not unlike a soldering iron and plastic filler rod. This method is effective for filling holes or fixing cracks. Plastic welding is a good alternative to replacement, cost wise, and goes unnoticed, and we can repair cracks up to three inches long.
